Changsha‖Tianxin Pavilion——The Symbol of the Ancient City of Changsha

Tianxin Pavilion, a dazzling pearl of the ancient city of Changsha, stands majestically in Tianxin Park. The ancient city wall surrounding it is a precious remnant in the long history of this city. Adjacent to Tianxin Pavilion stands a solemn archway—'Chonglie Gate,' which was built in 1946. It carries deep remembrance and high respect for the soldiers who bravely sacrificed their lives in the three battles of Changsha during the Anti-Japanese War. The history of Tianxin Pavilion itself can be traced back to the 11th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1746). What is presented to the world today is a meticulously rebuilt masterpiece from 1983. Entering Tianxin Park, one can freely wander without an entrance fee, but to delve deeper into the mysteries of Tianxin Pavilion and its ancient city wall, a ticket is required. The pavilion is supported by forty-six red-painted round pillars, complemented by a brown-tiled roof and white walls. The stone foundation is solid, and the colors are ancient and solemn. In front and behind the pavilion, the stone railings are intricately carved with 62 lifelike stone lions in various poses. Hanging from the pavilion are 32 wind horse bronze bells that sway with the wind, producing a crisp and pleasant sound, adding a touch of liveliness and spirituality to the ancient building. Moreover, there is a screening room next to Tianxin Pavilion, where a short film of about seven minutes is shown every hour, narrating the long history and legendary stories of Tianxin Pavilion to visitors (note that screenings are suspended on Monday afternoons for equipment maintenance). Additionally, professional interpretation services are available in the ticketed area, allowing every visitor to gain a deeper understanding of the stories behind this historical monument. After the tour, one might visit the Bamboo Slips Museum opposite Tianxin Pavilion, which also holds a wealth of historical and cultural treasures. Together with Tianxin Pavilion, it weaves the long-standing memories and glorious chapters of the city of Changsha.
