Avoid the crowds this May Day and check out the niche attraction~ Changchun Municipal Archives. The Changchun Municipal Archives, also known as the Changchun Taoist Yamen Museum (former site of the Jilong Taoist Yamen), is a lesser-known spot not far from the Puppet Manchurian Palace. You can make a free reservation on-site, and when I went there at around 9 am, there were hardly any visitors. The row of houses at the front presents the historical changes, officials, and old buildings of Changchun from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China. The row of houses at the back is Fangzhi Pavilion, where you can sit down and read the books in the museum. Compared to the 70 yuan ticket for the Puppet Manchurian Palace and the long queues at the entrance, finding this quiet spot in the bustling city during the May Day holiday is simply delightful.
