Pay homage to the Great Buddha image at Wat Kesaiyo

#Visit the ancient city Wat Chaiyo Worawihan, or some people call it Wat Ket Chaiyo, is located in Chaiyo District, Ang Thong Province. The temple is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River on the Ang Thong-Sing Buri Road. During the reign of King Rama IV, Somdej Phra Buddhacarya (To Phrommarangsi) of Wat Rakhang Khositaram, Thonburi, built a large Buddha statue in the meditation posture, or Luang Pho To, in the open air. The statue was made of white cement without gold. Later, during the reign of King Rama V, he visited to pay homage and ordered the renovation of Wat Chaiyo in 1887. However, the vibrations during the foundation laying of the temple caused Luang Pho To to collapse, so he ordered the construction of a new Luang Pho To following the model of Luang Pho To of Wat Kalayanamit and named it Phra Maha Phutthaphim. There was a celebration which was considered the biggest event in Ang Thong Province at that time and in the temple facing the Chao Phraya River, there was a statue of Somdej Phra Buddhacarya (To Phrommarangsi) which was completed in 1894. The entrance to the temple area is a shop and activity area and the parking lot in front of the temple has a high roof which is convenient to park. In the parking lot, there are also shops of this community area. Walk across to the temple and there will be signs pointing the way to various parts of the temple.
