Chaiyo Worawihan Temple

Wat Chaiyo Worawihan, Ang Thong Province 🙏It is an old temple during the reign of King Rama IV when Somdej Phra Buddhacarya (To Phrommarangsi) built a large Buddha statue in meditation posture or Luang Pho To in the open air. It was made of white cement without gold leaf. Later, during the reign of King Rama V, he came to pay homage and ordered the restoration of Wat Chaiyo Worawihan. However, the vibrations during the foundation laying of the temple caused Luang Pho To to collapse. Therefore, he ordered the construction of a new Luang Pho To in the style of Luang Pho To at Wat Kalayanamit, giving it the name Phra Maha Phutthaphim. 🪷Phra Maha Phutthaphim or Luang Pho To is a sacred Buddha statue that the people of Ang Thong and nearby provinces highly respect and believe in.
