Presidential Suite 30 Meters from the Sea | Alila Marea Stay Review

| Alila Marea Stay Review. Presidential Suite 30 Meters from the Sea | Alila Marea Stay Review Last December, I visited San Diego and stayed one night at Alila Marea. The hotel is right by the beach—just a 1-minute walk to the ocean—making its location quite ideal. Room Experience As a Globalist with FHR and a suite upgrade certificate, I was directly upgraded to the Presidential Suite at check-in. The perks were generous: besides the room upgrade, there was a $150 dining credit, double breakfast, and a 4 PM late checkout. The suite was massive, roughly 100 square meters, located on the first floor facing the ocean with no obstructions—just 20-30 meters from the beach. Both the living room and bedroom featured floor-to-ceiling windows offering uninterrupted sea views all day, making the stay incredibly comfortable. The toiletries were Votary in small aluminum bottles, giving a refreshing vacation vibe with nice attention to detail. Dining VAGA was a solid experience. I had both dinner and breakfast there, and the quality was on point with a pleasant ambiance—no disappointments. Facilities The pool and oceanfront sunset views created a great atmosphere. Though the hotel isn’t huge, the public areas are well-designed. The pool sits right by the sea with a first-class sunset view. I enjoyed a relaxing evening dip. Service Thoughtful touches stood out—like a beautifully arranged plate of chocolates delivered at night. At checkout, the hotel even gifted two or three extra sets of toiletries. The staff were consistently attentive, frequently replenishing our water supply (also in aluminum bottles, a clear upgrade over the soft plastic ones at Ritz-Carlton). Summary This was my first stay at an Alila property, and the overall experience was excellent. Compared to Napa or Big Sur, this one is more affordable and not all-inclusive, but the resort vibe is still strong. The facilities are modern, and the crowd is minimal—well worth its C7 rating. While online reviews are mixed, I personally had a great time. If I return to San Diego, I’d definitely consider staying here again.
