A Day Trip to Cambridge from London

Many people visiting the UK often include Cambridge in their must-visit list. For first-time visitors, exploring King's College and going punting are essential activities! This was my second visit to Cambridge, returning after seven years to experience a different side of the city. During my first visit, I enjoyed Cambridge on a sunny day ☀️, toured King's College, and went punting 🛶😍. However, the schedule was a bit rushed, and I only managed to see the highlights briefly. This time, I experienced Cambridge on a rainy day ☔️. I didn’t visit King's College or go punting due to the gloomy weather and drizzle, which made it inconvenient and less ideal for photography. Coincidentally, it was Cambridge University's graduation day. The small streets were packed with people 😆, and I saw many graduates in their gowns taking photos with their families. The campus was bustling with activities, creating a vibrant university town atmosphere. Unfortunately, the rain dampened the day ☔️. Our itinerary this time focused on exploring the city center and visiting spots we missed previously: 📍Corpus Clock 🕰️ - A quirky clock 😂 that’s often featured in Instagram posts. 📍University of Cambridge 🎓 - Cambridge University is divided into various colleges. We casually strolled around the exteriors of different colleges. 📍Newton's Apple Tree 🍎 - Speaking of apple trees, one naturally thinks of Newton and gravity. While the tree in Cambridge isn’t the original one from Newton’s time, many visitors bring apples to take photos 🤭. 📍Great St Mary's ⛪️ - A church opposite King's College. You can pay to climb the tower for a panoramic view of Cambridge, but it’s not worth it on a rainy day. 📍Cambridge River - viewing Punting 🛶 - Rainy days aren’t ideal for punting, but some tourists still brave the weather with umbrellas. Watching others punting from the bridge offers a unique perspective. 😋 Must-Try Food in Cambridge 🤤 📍Brunch at Fitzbillies - Famous for its Chelsea Bun, which I found too sweet. Foreigners tend to prefer sweeter flavors, so it’s no surprise 🤭 as it’s highly recommended by them 😂. - Personally, I enjoyed their Cheddar Cheese Scone and Cinnamon Bun more. The savory scone was surprisingly delicious, and the cinnamon bun’s sweetness was just right for me 😆. The rainy day in Cambridge slowed our pace, allowing us to appreciate the beauty of the city in the rain 😍☔️.
