Kanas

Kanas is a national 5A tourist attraction located in the middle of the Altai Mountains in Xinjiang.  Attractions - Kanas Lake: The deepest moraine-dammed lake in China, located in the deep mountains and dense forests of Altai. The lake water comes from glacial meltwater and precipitation. The lake surface is 1,374 meters above sea level, with an area of 45.73 square kilometers and a depth of 188.5 meters. - Wolong Bay: 10 kilometers from Kanas, the lake is surrounded by dense forests, and the small islands in the lake are beautiful. - Moon Bay: A pearl embedded in the Kanas River, it changes with the water level of Kanas Lake. - Hemu Village: A village where the local Tuva people gather, with the charm of a Swiss town. The wooden houses are scattered, forming a unique natural landscape with snow-capped mountains, forests, and grasslands. - Baihaba Village: Known as one of the most beautiful towns in China, it has unique border scenery and ethnic customs, and retains a large number of original wooden buildings. Food - Roasted whole lamb: Made from Altay big-tailed sheep, the meat is tender and juicy, marinated with special spices and then roasted. - Pilaf: Stewed with lamb, carrots, onions, and rice, it has a rich flavor. - Burqin grilled fish: A local specialty in Burqin, the fish is tender and delicious, with a variety of flavors to choose from. - Milk tea: A traditional Mongolian drink made from brick tea and fresh milk or sheep milk, it has a rich flavor and can be served with naan. Accommodation - Wooden houses in the scenic area: Such as Kanas Mountain Villa and Hemu Mountain Villa, where you can experience the atmosphere of the primeval forest, but the price is relatively high, and reservations are required in advance during peak season. - Hotels outside the scenic area: Located in Burqin County, with good accommodation conditions, a variety of choices, and relatively affordable prices. Transportation - Airplane: You can take a plane to Kanas Airport or Altay Airport, and then transfer to a car to the scenic area. - Train: Take a train to Beitun City Railway Station, and then transfer to a car to Kanas, which takes about 3 hours. - Car: Take a bus from Urumqi Nianzigou Bus Station to Burqin, and then transfer to a bus to Kanas Scenic Area. Best time to visit - June to September: The summer climate is suitable, the vegetation is lush, and you can enjoy the grassland flowers, green forests, and the lake and mountains under the blue sky and white clouds. It is also a summer resort. - Mid-September to early October: Autumn is the most beautiful season in Kanas, with trees turning golden and fiery red, forming a beautiful picture with the blue sky, white clouds, and snow-capped mountains.
