A church that took years to complete after being stalled for many years.

The current form of the church was started in the late 15th century on the site of an original church in the town. In 1535, Pedro de Ybarra took over the continuation of the project and began to complete the west facade, which was finished around 1567. After Ybarra's death, his position was inherited. However, the construction of the church made little progress in this century, with most of the remaining work being completed under the direction of Manuel de Lara Churriguera between 1723 and 1726. The church was originally in Gothic Renaissance style, with a rectangular hall and three naves. Its main altarpiece consists of a statue of Our Lady of Socorro, who is busy holding a child and a dart in her two hands.
