This lake is not as gorgeous as Lake Como (LAGO DI COMO) in Italy, nor as large and lively as Lake Garda (LAGO DI GARDA), but it has a very important position in Italy and is also the most famous lake in the Dolomiti Mountains. The reason is that it has a low-key and static beauty, and can be said to be another paradise in Italy! LAGO DI BRAIES is located in the Alps at an altitude of 1,496 meters. The lake is surrounded by towering stone mountains. The calm lake is like a mirror, reflecting the magnificent mountain scenery on the lake surface. When you take your first step into this lake area, you will be pleasantly surprised. The shadows of trees and mountains in the golden autumn make the lake even more mysterious. The unique scenery really makes people stop and stay unconsciously. If you want to experience the autumn scenery of lakes and mountains from multiple angles, walking around the lake is the best way to enjoy it. There is a hiking trail around the lake LAGO DI BRAIES, which allows tourists to experience the beautiful scenery here. The hiking trail is approximately 3.5 kilometers long and is flat and easy to walk on. Occasionally there are one or two sections with ups and downs on stone steps, but this is definitely not a problem for many tourists. Generally, if you walk slowly, you can circle the lake in one or two hours. The scenery along the way is fascinating, and after the walk you can take a break for a cup of Italian coffee in a cafe by the lake. If you don’t want to walk too much, you can also rent a small wooden boat from a cabin by the lake to cruise around the lake, which would be a great experience!
