Borobudur Temple - A Retreat for the Soul

#2024wish Borobudur stands tall as one of the largest Buddhist temples globally, earning its UNESCO world heritage site recognition. I am blessed to have the chance to visit this world wonder in my lifetime! Built between AD 780 and 840, it is influenced strongly by the Indian culture. However, some of the indigenous elements incorporated make it uniquely Indonesian. Despite being neglected for centuries, it was rediscovered in 1814. In the 1970s, Indonesia and UNESCO restored it for over a period of eight years. Borobudur is now a valuable Indonesian treasure, standing strong and beautiful. Beyond its historical grandeur, Borobudur unfolded a serene magic during the early hours of our visit. This place wields an incredible power to quiet our minds and anchor us in the present. It offers a rare escape from the chaos of our everyday life. I am really impressed!
