#birminghamtrips Address: St. Paul's Church, St. Paul's Square, Birmingham B3 1QZ, United Kingdom 🇬🇧 St. Paul's Church in the heart of Birmingham's Jewelry Quarter has received a major boost in our ongoing Raise the Roof. designed by Roger Eykyn of wolverhampton, St. Paul's Church was consecrated in 1779. Although part of the original design, the spire was not added until 1823 by Francis Goodwin. Tradition has it that both James Watt and Matthew Boulton were members of the congregation for a time. St. Paul's is a fine example of a church in the manner of James Gibbs. The interior remains much of its original fabric despite suffering significant bomb damage to the roof during the Second World War. The attractive nave with its arcaded and galleried aisles is typical of the period. The highlight of the interior is painted windows, based on Benjamin West's painting of The Conversion of St. Paul. The elegant neo classical windows surrounded is the work of Samuel Wyatt, who went on to design Watt's house, Heathfield Hall.
