Eat Your Vegetables - Travel Snacks Too!

As we were traveling (budget friendly) thru Asia we often stayed in guest houses and BnBs. Local food is great, but sometimes we get to cook in the house/communal kitchen. We often make dal - Indian lentil soup - with lots of veggies added. Later, when we're eating out on the local economy, we compare tastes observing spices used, style of cooking, the different rices, sauces and grains. This adds to our understanding of local culture and presents a great opportunity to talk with all the friendly people. Coffee and donuts are OK too - once in a while.
