Surrounded by Art and Marble

Most travellers to Beijing, need to find a Hotel that's centrally located, near all Embassies and other state departments. That's what initially brought us to the A.C. Embassy Art Hotel. Most Embassies are within walking distance from this hotel. We did however receive much more, than we set out to get. To our suprises the owner is an Art enthusiast, and the Hotel has been made to form part of the Art, rather than to merely displaying it. The entire Hotel has a combination of Marble and Onyx flooring and wall cladding. The contrasting colours, provides a sense of grace and elegance. There is an Art Gallery, adjacent to the Hotel, and admission is free to Hotel guests, with a nominal charge for non guests. The restaurant has a table d'hote "buffet" available for breakfast, as well as an a la carte "menu", for Lunch and Dinner. We ordered a fruit salad for lunch, it was beautifully crafted, and almost to nice to eat. The room had nice furnishings, with unique art "paintings" on the walls. The bed was very comfortable indeed. The Onyx and Marble, compliments the bathroom very well. Our only regret, is that we simply did not have enough time during our two day stay, to enjoy and view more art. P.S. There is a rooftop garden on the top floor as well, with a fitness center and art center as well. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the city, from the rooftop garden. I highly recommend that you visit this Hotel and Art centre, on your next visit to Beijing. Life does not always have to be "business" only, a bit of "leisure time", makes the trip worth it. ##
