The falling ginkgo leaves are a romance unique to Beijing

This is my first time in Beijing, right in the autumn of Beiping. As a southerner, it seems I have never truly experienced an autumn in my life. Walking into the Forbidden City, I was instantly dazed. At twenty years old, I finally arrived at the capital from my elementary school textbooks, truly coming to this familiar yet strange place, seeing the autumn of Beiping described by Lao She. Deep in the hutongs, under gray tiles and white walls, ginkgo leaves fall softly, paving a golden path. On the streets, everywhere are people riding bicycles selling candied hawthorns, mingling with scattered ginkgo leaves, exactly like the scenes described in my childhood textbooks. I spent the whole afternoon strolling in Beihai Park. The lake at sunset was incredibly beautiful, with occasional boats and ducks gliding by under the setting sun, peaceful and lovely.
