Baroque style, Gothic architecture, the most beautiful church in Beijing - Xuanwumen Catholic Church

But today I want to introduce you to a more special attraction - "Xuanwumen Catholic Church", which is the oldest existing Catholic church in Beijing. It was founded here by missionary Matteo Ricci in the 33rd year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, and rebuilt by missionary Johann Adam Schall von Bell in the 7th year of the Shunzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty. It was destroyed by fire in the 40th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, and rebuilt the following year. The existing building was built in the 30th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty. Xuanwumen Catholic Church is also known as the South Church. It is full of Baroque style. The lobby is a Gothic arched building with embossed gold patterns on the top of the columns and stained glass windows on both sides. It is simple and elegant!
