A hidden gem in Beijing, pear blossoms bloom to shake the capital.

It's once again the season for pear blossoms and lilacs to bloom at Zhihua Temple. Located at No. 5 Lumicang Hutong, Dongcheng District, Beijing, Zhihua Temple was initially built by the eunuch Wang Zhen during the Zhengtong period of the Ming Dynasty and is now the best-preserved Ming Dynasty wooden structure complex in Beijing. Every spring, the pear blossoms of Zhihua Temple are the most moving scenery in the capital. Two ancient pear trees, hundreds of years old, spread their crowns like giant umbrellas, with layers of pure white pear blossoms resembling "snow umbrellas" covering the courtyard. The contrast with the vermilion ancient buildings creates a stunning scene. Lilacs bloom a little later than pear blossoms, quietly blossoming beside the bell tower and drum tower in the first courtyard, adding a romantic touch to the ancient temple. In addition to the pear blossoms and lilacs, the architecture of Zhihua Temple itself is also worth savoring. Although some parts of the coffered ceiling of Zhihua Hall have been lost overseas, the existing buildings still demonstrate the superb craftsmanship of Ming Dynasty architecture. The Ming Dynasty octagonal wooden revolving sutra repository in the Sutra Repository is exquisitely carved and a true artistic treasure. 📌Tips: Zhihua Temple has Jing music performances daily at 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Daily tickets are limited to 2,000.
