Ming Tombs in China/Beijing

The Ming Tombs in China are located at the foot of Tianshou Mountain, about 50 km from Beijing. The 13 royal tombs built against the backdrop of the mountain form a complete architectural system, creating a tomb complex. This mausoleum was built in 1409, more than 600 years ago. The tomb area covers 40 square kilometers, making it the largest existing royal tomb complex in China and even the largest in the world. The name refers to the tombs of 13 emperors built after the Ming Dynasty moved its capital to Beijing. The tombs were built in the following order: Changling, Xianling, Jingling, Yuling, Maoling, Tailong, Kangling, Yongling, Zhaoling, Dingling, Qingling, Deling, and Siling, hence the name Ming Tombs.
