Fayuan Temple - Beijing Attractions 7|||📍Location: No. 7 Fayuan Temple Qianjie, Xicheng District, Beijing (5 min by bike from Taoranting Station, Exit A) 🏰Other names: China Buddhist Library and Relics Museum, Tang Minzhong Temple The temple was built in the 19th year of the Zhenguan era (645 AD) by Emperor Taizong of Tang to commemorate the soldiers who died in the northern expedition. It is the oldest temple in Beijing, and is said to be half of China's history. The temple is solemn and sacred, with four main halls: the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, the Minzhong Pavilion, and the Pilu Hall. The Chinese Buddhist Academy is located on the side, and you can see many monks practicing Buddhism in the temple. The park south of the temple gate is the site of the former Minzhong Temple, and now only a commemorative sculpture remains to tell the long history of the place.
