Beijing | Taikoo Li Sanlitun||Taikoo Li Sanlitun is divided into three major areas: South, North, and West, covering an area of about 61,014 square meters, with a total construction area of about 200,925 square meters, consisting of 30 relatively independent buildings. Taikoo Li Sanlitun was guided by the European architectural consultancy company, and designed with the participation of Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, among others. With the concept of an 'open city': Taikoo Li Sanlitun adopts the design concept of an 'open city', allowing as many 'people' and 'things' as possible to participate in the creation of the environment, making space, environment, facilities, operations, and management flexible and adaptable, interacting with each other; introducing a variety of functions and activities to enhance vitality. The 'open city' concept includes two design elements: 'open urban area' and 'open architecture'. The South area of Taikoo Li Sanlitun combines the lower floors of more than 19 buildings, with varying heights and styles, thus forming different spaces and visual experiences, while maintaining a pleasant spatial scale; and many passages, alleys, paths, and courtyards crisscross around it, forming urban squares. This layout creates a humanized urban space. To improve environmental quality, the design includes computer analysis of the microclimate of public spaces, and based on the research results, many features were added to the South area, including misters and fountains, to create a cooler summer experience. Taikoo Li Sanlitun is designed with the element of an 'open urban area', the entire area is an open space, a 'block' where the public can freely pass through, facilitating pedestrian traffic; people can enjoy the environmental landscape and various activities within the area while staying, making the journey a beautiful experience and feeling. From an urban design perspective, the 'permeable' block also creates visual connections and continuations, helping people to recognize and experience the city. With the 'artistic atmosphere' as the carrier: Taikoo Li Sanlitun's architectural design places great emphasis on artistic elements, with art galleries, cultural halls, and multiple art sculptures. For example, in the North area of Taikoo Li Sanlitun, there is a sculpture work 'Ren He', made of stainless steel and lacquer. The prototype of the work is the shape of a common Chinese residential house, using the language of sculpture to refine the form, extracting the lines of the house structure, combining them into surfaces, and then forming volumes, becoming a three-dimensional house frame, pieced together into a modern imagery sculpture. A harmonious family prospers in all things, and the basis of a harmonious family is 'Ren He', a group of colorful houses is the interpretation of this image. There is also a sculpture work 'Walking Characters', made of cast iron, where the artist evolves, transforms, and solidifies characters into sculptures, harmoniously presenting the combination of Chinese historical and cultural charm with contemporary artistic expression. On the left side of the character is 'Tai', and on the upper right is 'Gu', the two characters transform into a happy couple embracing each other—they meet, know, and love each other in Taikoo Li Sanlitun, achieving the eternal promise of 'holding hands with your child, growing old together'. In addition, the North area of Taikoo Li Sanlitun has an art gallery 'Red Hall'.
