Discover Beijing's largest forest wetland park, even bigger than the Olympic Forest Park!

"North Olympic Forest, South Nanyuan," the Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park located in Fengtai District echoes the Olympic Forest Park in the north of the city. It is a large green open space on the southern central axis of Beijing and an important part of the green barrier around the city's parks. With a planned blue and green space area of 10.7 square kilometers, it will become the largest ecological 'green lung' in the south of Beijing once completed. Nanyuan has been known since ancient times for its flat terrain, abundant springs, dense marshes, lush vegetation, and gathering of gulls and egrets. It was a royal hunting ground during the Liao and Jin dynasties and developed through the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties into a grand royal garden. Together with the old city of Beijing and the Three Hills and Five Gardens area, it forms a city landscape pattern of 'North City - South Garden - West Garden.' The 'Autumn Wind in the Southern Garden' from the Eight Great Sights of Yanjing is a concise summary of the Nanyuan scenery. The park is planned to be 'the structural ecological green lung of the capital's south and a world-renowned millennium historical garden.' It will feature eight distinctive scenic areas including Paozi Wetland, Haizi Forest, Huai Xin Forest, Imperial Path Literary Garden, One Mu Ancient Spring, High Platform View, Huai Fang Qing Yuan, and Fei Fang Forest. The aim is to create a green gateway on the southern central axis, shaping an urban park model that intertwines blue and green, harmonizes forests and waters, carries cultural heritage, integrates city and park, and offers a variety of activities. The currently partially opened pilot area covers about 5,000 acres and is the ecological core of the wetland park. Relying on the Xiaolong River and the large Paozi, combined with forest renewal and ecological restoration techniques, the pilot area recreates the natural and cultural landscapes rich in historical charm, such as the Nanyuan Paozi streams, large tree grasslands, and the grandeur of the imperial paths. It integrates leisure sports, children's activities, ecological education, and green living to create the most biodiverse wetland park in the central city area and a demonstration area for the natural charm of Nanyuan. 🚙 Travel Tips To visit the main Paozi Wetland scenic area, set the navigation destination to 'Nanyuan Wetland Forest Park' or 'Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park - North Gate 1,' and enter the park through the West 1 entrance or North 1 entrance; to visit One Mu Ancient Spring and High Platform View scenic areas, set the navigation destination to 'Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park - West Gate 3,' and enter the park through the West 3 entrance. 📷 Recommended Spots Feiyan Platform: The highest point of the park, offering the best view of the park's forest and wetlands, as well as a distant view of Beijing city and the China Zun CBD skyscrapers.
