Autumnal Hikes on the Great Wall

The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China is one of my favourites to visit for its ease and convenience. Located 73km away from Beijing’s downtown area, we hired a driver to take us there and back for around 500 RMB. Along this section of the wall, there are 22 watch towers along the 2,250 meter stretch of wall, and it is a very well preserved section following its rebuilding 1569. This section of the Great Wall is surrounded by nature too. So it makes for a beautiful trip no matter the season! In Autumn, the weather is perfect for a leisurely stroll along the wall - especially when the sun makes an appearance, and all the autumnal colours you see on the trees and surrounding vegetation is just beautiful! Plus, after your little hike, you can choose to slide down to the starting point in a single-rider toboggan! Super fun! #momentsmission
