In the past, this area was a cow pasture with many trumpet trees, so it was called "Thung Wua Lamphong", which later became distorted to "Hua Lamphong". Today, Hua Lamphong still preserves the charm of the old community. There is a Chinese community that has been settled for a long time, such as the Trok Salak Hin community, which used to be known as a gangster district, but has now transformed into an area driven by culture and art. Bangkok Design Week 2025 in Hua Lamphong is like opening a history book hidden in the alleys and small corners of the community. Each exhibition is a page of a story that has been forgotten. Some pages are told through art, some through voice, some through culture, and every page is filled with the "hearts" of the people who keep Hua Lamphong alive until today. Then we will know that Hua Lamphong is not just a train, but also has "life" and "stories" waiting for you to discover. However, the exhibition area in Hua Lamphong area will be held only on Saturday and Sunday, February 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, 2025. Interesting exhibitions 📍The exhibition "Following the Tracks: Birth, Growth and Extinction" presents life in the form of traveling along the train tracks through figurative art that reflects the growth, confusion and emptiness of life. Viewers will experience Interactive Media and Walking Meditation. Venue: Otis tattoo & art space (3rd floor, C'HOUSE BANGKOK building) 📍The exhibition "Far ( ้ ) Home" by Ritthat Bangkok tells the story of people who come to make a living in the Hua Lamphong area. They are laborers who are like the capillaries of a big city. People who have "far away homes" but choose Hua Lamphong as their "near home". Venue: The area under the expressway, Trok Salak Hin community 🖤 The exhibition "Roots Rewind Exhibition" by yellowsponge presents the story of the Trok Salak Hin community through the traditions of Folding paper for worship, which is both an art, culture, and a career for people in the community Venue: Play Space Cafe 📍The exhibition "Octave Maze" by Wich Pimkanchanapong presents historical information discovered from an office that has been abandoned for more than 30 years, allowing viewers to see new perspectives of Hua Lamphong as an area that used to be the center of the Thai entertainment industry. Venue: Aswin 📍The exhibition "Contemporary" by Infinite Riot, a mural art that conveys the charm of Hua Lamphong through old architecture, the Thai postal system, and stories from the Trok Salak Hin community, showing that Hua Lamphong is more than what meets the eye, but is an area full of culture. Venue: Hostel Era 📍The exhibition "in the red light, WE THRIVE" invites viewers to look again at the Trok Salak Hin community, which used to be a red zone with negative images such as gangsters ruling the city, drug problems, gambling, and prostitution. However, the community has now changed. This exhibition is presented through Installation Art and Olfactory Art (art that stimulates the sense of smell) to show that even though it used to be a red area, it can "bloom" in creativity and beauty. Venue: Station Hotel 📍The exhibition "Seat of Origin" by Gor.Gor.Nor.Group uses "chairs" made from recycled materials such as scraps of Chinese calendar paper, plastic bottles. Every time the audience sits on the chair, they will hear recordings from old people in the community, telling stories of the past life in the Hua Lamphong area and their memories and experiences in the old area.
