Explore Early Rattanakosin Architecture at Wat Thepakorn

🏡Wat Thepakorn, originally named Wat Thong, was built in 1832 by Thao Thepakorn (Thong), a Mon resident and a nobleman during the reign of King Rama I. The king provided funds for its construction. 🏠During the reign of King Rama IV, while he was still a monk, he visited this temple and renamed it Wat Thao Thepakorn. Locals also call it Wat Bang Phlu Bon or Wat Bon because it is located at the mouth of Bang Phlu Canal. Attractions within the temple include: 🏠The ordination hall, which was renovated during the reign of King Rama IV. 🛕Mon-style chedi, containing terracotta amulets mixed with white powder inside. 🛕The large chedi, a ten-cornered chedi, contains amulets from Wat Liap, created by Somdet Phra Sri Maha Bodhi or Khrua Yi To before his death.
