The official name is "Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan", a first-class royal temple of the Ratchaworamahawihan type, meaning a temple that the King, Queen, and Crown Prince personally built or renovated. It has a beautiful prang that stands out on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. It was built during the Ayutthaya period and is well-known under the name "Wat Chaeng". The reason it is called Wat Chaeng is because King Taksin finished his war and returned with his army just in time for the morning.
