You come to visit Wat Arun.

Wat Arun Ratchawararam or Wat Chaeng stands out prominently on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. It has long been an important temple of the city. It is an ancient temple that has been around since the Ayutthaya period. It was originally called “Wat Makok”. However, during the reign of King Taksin the Great, he intended to move the capital to Thonburi by marching his army by boat and arriving in front of Wat Makok at dawn. Therefore, the name was changed to “Wat Chaeng”. It was not until the reign of King Rama I that he ascended to the throne. However, before it was completed, he passed away. King Rama II continued the renovation until it was completed. He gave the temple the name “Wat Arun Ratchawararam” and it became the temple of his reign. To get to Wat Arun, you can drive and park in the area around Wat Arun or nearby. However, the parking lot in front of the temple is limited and is usually full. If you want convenience and a lot of parking, you can park your car at the Royal Navy Club opposite Wat Phra Kaew. Then walk to Tha Tien, then take a ferry from Tha Tien to Wat Arun. The fare is 4 baht per person. Or take the Chao Phraya Express Boat and get off at Wat Arun. There are quite a lot of tourists, especially foreigners. If you want to take portraits and don't want to see a lot of people, I recommend coming early in the morning around 8-9 am. Because if you come around 10 am onwards, there will be a lot of people. It will be quite difficult to find a good angle to take pictures. Wat Arun is open to tourists every day from 8 am to 5:30 pm. (Thais can visit for free. Foreign tourists pay 100 baht per person.) #BeautifulTemple
