On the first afternoon, I dropped off my luggage at my hotel and headed straight to Monastiraki Square. The moment I entered the square, the scenery that unfolded vividly portrayed modern Athens. Cafe terraces were packed with people, street musicians played in the alleys, and countless souvenir shops and flea market-style markets lined the streets. Just exploring the area made time fly by. Even amidst the bustle, there was a unique sense of leisure, and pausing for an ice cream and a rest like a local was a charm of the trip. A few minutes' leisurely stroll from the square brought me to the Roman Agora. The noise of the city faded into the background, and the ancient ruins unfolded before my eyes, making me feel as if I'd traveled back in time. Walking through the space where the columns and buildings remain, I had moments of intrigue, imagining, "What kind of lives did people live here?" The sunlight filtering through the ruins cast long shadows on the ground, adding to the tranquil atmosphere and making for perfect photo opportunities. Returning to Monastiraki Square at sunset and ending the day with a view of the Acropolis from a rooftop cafe would complete the perfect first day.
