Spectacular Ancient Stadium

The Panathenaic Stadium (Παναθηναϊκό Στάδιο; Panathenaic Stadium), also known as Kallimarmaro (Καλλιμάρμαρο, meaning "Beautiful Marble"), is located about 1 kilometer southeast of the Acropolis in Athens. It is an ancient stadium with a rich history. The Panathenaic Stadium is the only stadium in the world entirely built of marble. Renowned for its horseshoe-shaped (U-shaped) marble structure, it hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. In 2004, during the 28th Summer Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece, the Panathenaic Stadium served as the finish line for the marathon and the venue for archery competitions. The Olympic Exhibition Hall, covering an area of about 200 square meters, showcases exhibits primarily focused on the history of the Olympic Games and the stadium. The most striking exhibits in the hall are the torches from each modern Olympic Games, each uniquely designed to reflect the culture and era of the host city. The stadium's track is well-maintained, allowing visitors to run on it and experience the feeling of being an Olympic athlete. The stadium also features a podium, which has become a popular photo spot for visitors, with many eager to pose as Olympic champions.
