2D1N Great Ocean Road Adventure: Koalas, Coastal Views & Hidden Gems 🐨🌊

If you’re short on time but want to experience the magic of Victoria’s coastline, a 2-day, 1-night Great Ocean Road trip is absolutely doable — and oh, so worth it! Here’s how our adventure unfolded. Day 1: Melbourne → Apollo Bay We kicked off our trip by renting a car from Sixt in Melbourne city and heading straight to Geelong for a hearty breakfast. Fuelled up and ready to explore, we hit the road along the iconic Great Ocean Road. Our first stop was Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet — the view of the cliffs meeting the ocean was unreal. From there, we drove to the Memorial Arch, a great spot to snap photos and feel the history of this famous route. Next, we made our way to Teddy’s Lookout, where the panoramic views over the coastline took our breath away. By evening, we reached Apollo Bay and checked into our Airbnb — a stay so lovely it deserves its own post! The vibe, comfort, and views made winding down after a long day perfect. Day 2: Sunrise, Cape Otway, Koalas & Twelve Apostles We woke up early to catch the sunrise right from our Airbnb, a serene and magical start to the day 🌅. After breakfast, we continued our journey toward Cape Otway, where the wildlife adventure began. Driving through the dense forests, we spotted wild koalas lounging in eucalyptus trees — an absolute highlight of the trip! From there, we headed to the Twelve Apostles. The coastal wind was strong, but the view of these towering limestone stacks against the turquoise water made every gust worthwhile. After soaking in the scenery, we stopped at Port Campbell for a relaxing lunch before starting the drive back to Melbourne CBD. Even though our trip was short, the combination of coastal cliffs, lush forests, wildlife encounters, and iconic landmarks made it unforgettable. The Great Ocean Road isn’t just a scenic drive; it’s a journey full of surprises, perfect for both first-timers and repeat visitors.

Along the way, we passed Torquay and stopped at the beautiful Split Point Lighthouse. Next was the famous Memorial Arch, and at Kennett River we spotted a koala – but it was fast asleep 🐨💤. By evening, we checked into Apollo Bay for our first night, enjoying the ocean views.” 🎥 Day 2 – Apollo Bay to Port Campbell “Day 2 was all about nature and coastal wonders. We began with a walk through the lush Maits Rest Rainforest, then explored the historic Cape Otway Lighthouse. Continuing west, we were blown away by the iconic Twelve Apostles. We also stopped at Loch Ard Gorge, The Grotto, and London Bridge before ending the day at Seafoam Villas in Port Campbell, our cozy stay for the night.” 🎥 Day 3 – Port Campbell to Melbourne “On our last day, we visited the dramatic Bay of Islands, then drove inland through Colac before heading back towards the city. Our final stop was the colorful Brighton Bath Boxes 🌈 – the perfect photo finish to our 3-day Great Ocean Road adventure!”

🚗✨ Driving Review: 12 Apostles – The Dream Route on the Great Ocean Road 🌊 One of the most memorable trips in Australia was driving along the Great Ocean Road from Apollo Bay to the 12 Apostles. 🏞️ 🌿 The route was filled with stunning sea views that made us stop every now and then, from cliffs to beaches and small villages along the way. 🌊 The highlight was the 12 Apostles — giant limestone columns in the middle of the ocean. While we didn't see all 12 today, seeing them with our own eyes gave us goosebumps at the sheer magnitude of nature. 📍 Along the way, there were other interesting stops, such as Gibson Steps, Loch Ard Gorge, and London Bridge, each equally charming. Driving yourself allows you to stop wherever you want, take photos, and fully experience the atmosphere. 🌅 Even more so at sunset…it's truly an unforgettable sight. 💙 ⸻ ✨ Summary: Anyone visiting Melbourne should definitely take the opportunity. Drive out of the city to see the grandeur of the 12 Apostles and you will realize that… nature is always greater than we think. 🌏💫
