Anyue Stone Carvings

Visited during this year's May Day holiday, spent two days there—one day on the south route and one day on the north route. On the south route, I visited six spots: Peacock Cave, Mingshan Temple, Huayan Cave, Pilu Cave, Banbian Temple, and Tapo. It was quite a journey as the sites are very spread out, but definitely worth it. The carvings are exquisite, especially the statues at Tapo, which are stunning. At Mingshan Temple, you can even see the shape of the wind. On the north route, I went to the Reclining Buddha Courtyard, Mumen Temple, and Yuanjue Cave. Route recommendation: The Anyue Stone Carvings are very scattered, with only Yuanjue Cave being relatively close to the county town; the others are quite far. Driving requires some skill, especially the narrow mountain road leading to Banbian Temple. For public transportation, you can hire a motorcycle taxi—I did just that. On the first day of May Day, after visiting the Dazu Stone Carvings, I took a bus directly from Dazu to Shiyang Town and got off at Peacock Cave. After visiting Peacock Cave, a short walk leads to a nearby town where you can find a motorcycle taxi. After finishing there, I took a bus from Shiyang Town to Anyue, stayed overnight in Anyue, and early the next morning took a bus from Anyue to Wofu Town. Then I found a tricycle to visit the Reclining Buddha Courtyard and Banbian Temple. At noon, I took a bus back to Anyue from Wofu Town, and then took a taxi from the county town to Yuanjue Cave.
