Chengdu's off-the-beaten-path treasure City walk (Part) Anyue Stone Carvings 'Buddha' Journey

Anyue Stone Carvings 'inherit Longmen and initiate Dazu', is the place with the highest concentration of known ancient Buddhist statue sites in China, most of which are scattered in the countryside, adding to their sense of serene isolation. ❶ Yuanjue Cave Cliff Carvings: Named for the twelve Yuanjue (complete awareness) carvings, it took over 400 years to complete, with the most spectacular being one Buddha, two Bodhisattvas, and three large grottoes. ① Lotus Hand Guanyin: Holding a hundred-pound lotus, the stem of the lotus bud in the Bodhisattva's hand weighs a hundred pounds, yet it has not fallen for a thousand years. ② Pure Bottle Guanyin: With the left hand holding a pure bottle and the right hand holding a willow branch, standing barefoot on a lotus pedestal. Note that there are two lotus pedestals here. There is an Apsara at the top of each side wall, breaking the traditional Chinese aesthetic of symmetry, one flying into the grotto and the other flying out. ③ Sakyamuni Buddha with a slight smile holding a flower: The main Buddha statue is 6.2 meters high, currently the largest standing profile Buddha statue found in China. The mountain has the characters 'Turtle and Crane', and the 'Zhenxiang Temple Reproduced Cliff Ancient Characters Record' records 'Li Shiyong's ink traces, Yang Ling (Ning) style cliff carvings'. ❷ The Reclining Buddha Temple is an ancient Buddhist temple, where the reclining Buddha is known as 'the best in the East'. The common depiction of Sakyamuni's nirvana shows his head resting on his right hand, feet together, lying on his side. However, this set of statues is adapted to the local conditions, with the head facing to the left, both hands stretched out flat, and the body lying flat. To enrich the content of the Buddha statue, there is also a depiction of Sakyamuni preaching above the reclining Buddha, with Sakyamuni in the middle and his disciples on both sides. Behind the disciples are the eight celestial dragons. The architectural style here is simple and elegant, and the environment is quiet and peaceful, making it a good place to escape the hustle and bustle and seek inner peace.
