Antarctica

On board the Eclipse, I look admiringly at the Antarctic landscape around us. The sky is blue, the sun is at its best. I drink a cappuccino and eat a croissant; it's almost a little too warm in the restaurant. It's colder outside, maybe around freezing point. The sea is calm and the ship is stable in the sea. The stories you can read about Antarctica are full of tragedies, the contrast between them couldn't be greater. I almost think I'm reading sailor's yarn. But the truth is that Antarctica also has another side. Rough seas, long currents with hurricane-force winds, temperatures well below 40 degrees, the pack ice that, once trapped, relentlessly crushes and ends every ship. I have now finished my cappuccino and am on the way to the spa, the sauna is waiting for me.
