Anji Homestay｜A Japanese-style Courtyard in the Mountains

Steal a half-day of leisure from the busy life Hide away in the mountains to be a happy little immortal for a day The midsummer season is perfect for spending a few leisurely days in the mountains I started looking for homestays a week in advance and discovered this newly opened one I fell in love at first sight with this Japanese-style courtyard, and it truly is beautiful Surrounded by mountains and bamboo forests, every step in the homestay offers a scenic view, with thoughtful design everywhere In the afternoon, fanning myself while sipping iced drinks, listening to cicadas and frogs Occasionally, little fish swim by in the creek, paired with the lush greenery before my eyes It’s the healing beauty of nature and the taste of summer 🌿 - 💚 About the Homestay: Chiqiu ChillMont (No. 33, Liangting Natural Village, Anji County) It’s about a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Shanghai. The road is not difficult, but it’s recommended to arrive before dark because there are no streetlights on the way in at night. In summer, the homestay staff take guests to see fireflies nearby. The path to the forest is pitch dark and requires a flashlight. There aren’t many fireflies this season, but we saw a few twinkling little cuties, which I had never seen before, haha. - 💚 About Dining: You need to drive out to eat around here, and when we arrived, we felt there weren’t many appealing restaurants outside, so we had lunch and dinner at the homestay. The housekeeper sends the menu to the group chat before each meal. I think the food tastes great; the farmhouse dishes are very flavorful. For two people, you can choose 2 meat and 2 vegetable dishes, and the menu changes daily. However, I think breakfast could be improved a bit as the variety is quite simple. - 💚 About the Rooms: Each room has a slightly different style, overall leaning towards a wabi-sabi aesthetic. This time I stayed on the third floor, which has a terrace with great views. The facilities are all very new; I learned it just opened in mid-July. The terrace on the fourth floor is also beautiful, with some vintage-style tables and chairs, and a row of tatami mats at the back. If you come in autumn or winter, you can gather around a stove to brew tea, which creates a super cozy atmosphere.
