Big Almaty Lake - The best of Almaty

We made it as a day tour from Almaty with the Join Me agency , leaving Almaty at 8 AM and returning at around 5 PM. The hike to the lake takes aprox. 3 hours, depending on your own pace. Take plenty of water with you, also food, as there is nothing around. The view once you reach the lake is spectacular, but the actual turquoise colours are only visible if there is sun. Take a rain coat just in case, as the weather in those mountains is very unpredictable, and it can start raining just out of the blue when you are at the peak. A must see when in Kazakhstan!
