If I had to pick my favorite city in Egypt

this is the stage of power for the last pharaoh Cleopatra. It is also the city that feels the least like Egypt. It doesn’t have the rich sea excursions of Hurghada, nor the numerous temples of Luxor, nor the pristine beaches of Matrouh, and not the desert oasis of Siwa either. Many people don’t even put it on their travel list. Compared to other cities, Alexandria isn’t very exciting to play in. Its most famous attractions are the largest ancient library and the Qaitbay Citadel rebuilt on the ruins of the lighthouse. Rushed tourists seem to check it all off in a day. But if you slow down and stay a few days, you’ll find it doesn’t have the extreme heat of other cities. Those who like walking can stroll along the coastline, stopping here and there, visit the carefully maintained Roman Museum, and relax in century-old cafes and dessert shops. If you don’t want to walk, you can take convenient public transportation, or even the 28-pound double-decker sightseeing bus. In the evening, sit by the shore and watch the salted egg yolk sunset with the locals. In this city, all you need to do is live like a local.
