Alcalà de Xivert is located within the historic lands of El Maestrazgo, in the north of the province of Castellón.

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region) Protected by the natural barrier of the Sierra de Irta, the city stretches along an alluvial plain that reaches the sea at the tourist beaches of Las Fuentes, Alcossebre and Punta Cobú. The Tower of Campanario stands 58 meters high in this historic district. This monumental building was built in the 18th century and is attached to the Church of San Juan Bautista in the Classical Valencian-Baroque style. The Diocesan Museum exhibits a valuable collection of paintings and precious metalwork. The Knights of Montesa administered these lands during the Middle Ages on the orders of King James II and left their distinctive mark at Xivert Castle, a fortress in the heart of the Sierra de Irta Mountains. Other interesting monuments include the Church of Our Lady of the Helpless (18th century), the Renaissance buildings in the Art Center and the Baroque Monastery of Calvario. Alcalá’s coastline has excellent beaches at Alcossebre and nautical facilities such as Las Fuentes Marina. Some defense towers still remain in the area, such as the one at Cobb's Point. A few kilometers from the city we find the Prat Cabanes-Torreblanca Nature Reserve, one of the most important wetlands in the Valencian Community, and Peñíscola, a picturesque tourist town on the Costa Azahar. #2月好地方2025
