Active volcano Merapi

The drive to Merabi is lovely, passing through small villages along the way. The closer you get the colder it becomes due to elevation. You have clear views of the volcano early morning before 9am as the clouds will cover it before. Arrive as early as possible! Passing farm fields it’s noteworthy to see the many big leaf plants, they are tobacco plants and one can see the local farmers drying the leaves along the route.
