Aachen Cathedral, Germany, a world cultural heritage

Aachen Cathedral is one of the oldest cathedrals in Europe. It was built by Charlemagne of the Frankish Kingdom. After about 20 years of construction, its architecture and worship ceremonies were completed around 803. Charlemagne was buried here in 814. Its importance is based on more than 1,200 years of history as the burial place of Charlemagne, the coronation of 31 German kings and 12 queens from 936 to 1531 in the Palatine Chapel (part of Aachen Cathedral), and the pilgrimage church that attracts believers from all over the world every seven years. Aachen Cathedral has been the mother church of the Diocese of Aachen since 1930. In 1978, Aachen Cathedral was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site for its outstanding artistry, architecture, and important role in the history of the Holy Roman Empire. For me, the trip to Aachen was very regrettable because I drove there from the Netherlands, but the church was closed that day. Even though I took a few photos of the exterior, it was cloudy and the light was too poor. Two hours after I left the church, the sky in Aachen cleared up. Also because of Aachen's geographical location, although I have been to Germany dozens of times since then, I have never been there again. I will definitely go there again in the future and see the miserable scene there. Aachen Cathedral is surrounded by buildings, and it is almost impossible to take satisfactory photos of the exterior for photography purposes. If there are no restrictions in local laws, then drone photography is the best choice. #GermanyTravel #GreenTourism #OverseasTourism #WorldHeritage #WorldHeritageCulturalRelics #deutschland #aachen
