The giant Ferris wheel, "Cosmo Clock 21," was built as one of the main attractions. After the Expo ended, the Ferris wheel was preserved and redeveloped into an urban theme park called "Yokohama Cosmoworld." *The Ferris wheel was relocated to its current location after the Expo due to port redevelopment. Currently, across the canal, - "Wonder Amusement Zone" (Block 15), centered around the Ferris wheel - " "Burano Street Zone" - "Kids Carnival Zone" on the Nippon Maru Memorial Park side (both in Block 23) It's divided into three zones: Admission is free. It first arrived in Japan in 1999 as the centerpiece of Zoorasia's opening. At the time, this strange animal, a cross between a zebra and a deer, captivated both adults and children, and I remember it becoming as much of a hit as the panda. The okapi is actually a relative of the giraffe, a rare animal said to be a "living fossil" that has remained unchanged since ancient times. Zoorasia also houses approximately 530 animals from 100 different species from around the world, housed in eight zones divided by climate and region, giving you the feeling of traveling the world. The zoo is very large, and it takes about 90 minutes to walk from the main gate to the northernmost north gate. So, using the park bus is extremely convenient! I visited Yokohama Chinatown as a day trip from Tokyo. I accidentally took a regular train instead of the express, so the ride took about an hour and a half but if you're coming from central Tokyo, you can take an express train and get there much faster, almost in half the time. I arrived around noon, and the area was already packed. It was full of life crowded streets, energetic atmosphere, and people everywhere. There were so many restaurants, street food stalls, souvenir shops, and visitors from different countries mixed in with locals. The whole place felt exciting and full of movement. You can find all kinds of souvenirs here, and the variety of food options is endless. But since it gets very crowded, it’s not always easy to find a place to sit or choose a restaurant last-minute. I recommend deciding where to eat in advance if you have something specific in mind. Still, I think it’s best to explore at your own pace. Even if people around you are walking quickly, take your time to enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds.
