I love hiking and I enjoyed my trip to the Gongyu Village in Zhejiang, China. China is ultimately beautiful and it was an unforgettable experience to explore its hard to get to places. Gongyu Village is also called a hidden village in English because it is really hard to get to. Our group took a private bus from Shanghai and it took approximately 8 hours because we made a mistake of traveling during the Golden Week (1st week of April). Upon arrival there by bus, our group had to hike with all of our belongings on our backs for 2 hours before reaching the Hidden village. When we arrived I couldn’t believe my eyes, there it was, a beautiful and authentic local Chinese village with no sign of modern civilization still standing there in the 21st century. We spent 4 days hiking the surrounding mountains and eating local authentic food cooked by the local villagers. The also supplied us beer and karaoke for the evening entertainment. The accommodation was not good at all, since it was an open room with many people sleeping on hard beds, but it was ok for a few nights. Many people chose to camp outside in tents. #mountainview After encountering several reposts of drone shots of the Ruyi bridge on IG, I found out that Unitravel, a travel agency based in Hangzhou, was offering trips to to Shenxianju scenic spot. A bunch of friends and I signed up and we were not disappointed at all! We chose to take the cable car and only walked a bit to find escalators taking us further up. That was something none of us have seen before, definitely not on a mountain! We spotted a nice area with chairs and tables, surrounded by a few shops, where we sat and had our own packed lunches. We crossed two bridges before finally spotting the Ruyi bridge. I went to several glass bridges before and that one was indeed, the most impressive. While following the pathway, you’ll come across shops selling beverages and snacks. Fresh air & mountain views, a great combo for a getaway from the city! We walked in the sun for hours and were too exhausted to descend on foot. We chose to take the cable car again. I first spotted this bridge on @beautifuldestinations and immediately added it onto my bucket list. Being the solo traveler that I am; I planned a trip on my own even after noticing that getting there isn’t as efficient. Luckily, the @trip apartment I booked was only 5 minutes walking distance to the scenic area ticket sales office (Shenxianju tourist transfer center). At the scenic area, there’s a cable way option(not free) for people who aren’t necessarily there for hiking but rather the bridge itself or the greenery. After getting off the cable way there’s an outdoor escalator and as soon as you take that step off, that’s when the real hiking begins.
