Abe Monjuin is an ancient temple that was founded over 1,300 years ago in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. The principal image of the temple is the Bodhisattva Manjusri, known for the proverb "Three heads come together to create the wisdom of Manjusri." The principal image of the temple is designated as a national treasure and is counted among the three great Manjusri of Japan. However, the temple is said to be connected to Abe no Nakamaro, a Japanese envoy to the Tang Dynasty, and Abe no Seimei, an onmyoji (a fortune teller). (Seimei Shrine is also enshrined here.) I liked our visit at Tanzan Jinjia. It is a very quiet place surrounded by nature and located on the side of a small hill. The ascent to the top is very peaceful and from there you will have a nice view. To get to the top the train in the forest is also a picturesque one. When we were there not many people were visiting which made it a better experience. Close to the entrance there is a parking spot if you are coming with a car but we used the one located next to the convenience store which was free and empty considering that there were not many people around. #japantrip

We drove to Hasedera Temple, and the road was mostly straight, so I thought it was a perfect spot for students! We arrived around 16:00, so most of the places to eat out (such as kusamochi) were closed, but!! The illuminated Hasedera Temple was especially charming! In 2024, the leaves took a long time to turn beautiful, so we were able to see the collaboration of chrysanthemums and autumn leaves! After about 5:30 p.m., there were no people around, and the view from Hasedera Temple was very majestic. (Last photo)

Hasedera is the head temple of the Buzan sect of Shingon Buddhism, located in Hatsuse, Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. The building called 'Gachirin-in,' located halfway up the stairs from the Niomon Gate, has been turned into a cafe. We took a break here during our visit. It was a beautiful spot with a view of the mountains and the temple grounds adorned with red and yellow maple leaves. While enjoying the beautiful scenery, we had a seasonal oden.
