Mulai, the mountain of faith, you must go once!!
“Mula-ee, the mountain of faith” The first time I heard the name and saw the pictures here, I thought that I had to go there one day.
When I planned to go, Covid-19 caused the trip to be postponed indefinitely because this mountain is in Burma. At that time, each country did not want outsiders to enter. After a year, they started to relax the rules, but then there was another unrest.
So we had to postpone it again.
But finally!!! I was able to go as I wished. When my sister went, the weather was very cold. I am sensitive to the cold, so I prepared very well.
Before going, we need to know the rules here.
1. Men and women are not allowed to sleep in the same tent.
2. On top, refrain from eating meat.
3. If women want to go up the pagoda, they must wear a sarong or a skirt that covers the knees only and can only go up to the first pagoda. Only men can go up to the next pagoda.
We left Bangkok at night and went to Umphang in the morning. We stopped to buy some things and took a shower. Then we changed to a four-wheel drive vehicle, which took about 4 hours. At this point, I recommend finding a headscarf and covering your nose because there is a lot of dust. And the road is not very good, my butt is a bit sore. The way we pass through various Burmese villages, we will see the way of life of the villagers all the way.
When we get to the top, we set up the tents first. We sleep in the temple's canteen because last week, the people who slept at the viewpoint had a strong wind that made it impossible to sleep, so we didn't take the risk. When we set up the tents, we walked to the pagoda. Don't forget to change your sarongs. The path is easy, but the stairs are a bit steep, making us out of breath. But the view up is very beautiful. We can see the mountains in 360 degrees, and even in the afternoon, there is still fog. When we come down, we go to the viewpoint. This is considered the most beautiful spot of the trip. Because in addition to the view that you can see in every direction, the air is very good. We can't take it anymore. The background here when taking pictures is the intricate mountain range. Some angles look like a foreign country. This is another trip that makes us love hiking even more.
When we come back down from the viewpoint, we have lunch at the place where we set up the tents. This meal is free of meat, but it is very delicious. After eating, we sit by the fire and chat leisurely, with the weather getting colder and colder. No later than 10 pm, everyone goes to bed. Everything was dark and quiet with the sound of dew dripping all night long. Under the very cold weather, I think it was about 7-8 degrees.
Brrrrrrrrrrr🥶🥶
Woke up this morning with the weather still freezing. We sat by the fire and sipped coffee, watching the mist floating in the light wind. To be honest, I didn't want to go back yet, but in the morning we had to pack our things because it would be a long time before we reached the back.
The way down was just as hard as the way up. It was like being massaged repeatedly on the sore spots><
For those who are deciding whether to go or not, don't hesitate. It's really worth it. ⛰️🏔️🍃
And this time, we brought the FujiXT5 camera with us. I secretly liked it. I'll come back to review it again. The camera is small and light, but the file quality is very good. It's convenient for mountain climbers like us who don't want to carry heavy things.
