My regrets in Egypt: The layover from Taiwan to Egypt was quite overwhelming. First, we stopped in Malaysia (which was great because we ate at Din Tai Fung at the airport, which was cheaper than in Taiwan). Then, we stopped in the United Arab Emirates (where dates were more expensive than in Egypt, prices were high, and we only had windows during the layover). After shopping and checking out the airport stalls, we finally landed in Cairo. This trip was like being on a flying tramp! 😂😂😂 Not visiting the southernmost Abu Simbel Temples and Aswan was probably my biggest regret about visiting Egypt. If I were to go back, I would definitely choose these two itineraries. What a shame to visit a country you'll only visit once in your lifetime. Seeing the cuneiform inscriptions on the temple walls was very touching, and reminded me of Jay Chou's "Love in BC." I didn't want to do another train trip where I had to sleep on the train (the journey from Giza to Luxor takes about 12 hours). The berths on the train were tiny and uncomfortable, more cramped than a larger single bed. It was a very memorable experience. Dinner was not very good, and the baby in the suitcase, probably thrown around during the luggage transfer, burst open and attracted real attention. Mickey, having to sleep in a cramped bunk bed with no toilet, only a single faucet, and no showering options felt like a last resort during a war, forced to flee to safety. 😅 Having to use the public restrooms to wash my face and remove my makeup, "making do" is perhaps the most telling sentiment of this train journey. I sought the conductor's help, only to discover he resembled Brenner from "Murder on the Orient Express," with his prominent nose. He seemed helpless, though. Rats are just scurrying creatures that humans dislike. 😅 Fearing the train would be delayed, I crisscrossed halfway around the world, having not showered for over two and a half days. I woke up at 6 a.m., quietly admiring the scenery out the train window. Al Moudira is probably the most beautiful hotel in all of Egypt. It's a bit remote, so remote that you might think you're being sold on the way there, but once you step into the hotel, it's like you've entered a paradise. The hotel covers an area of nearly 8 hectares and is conveniently located on the way to the Valley of the Kings. At the beginning of its construction, everything from the overall architecture to each piece of furniture was carefully designed and arranged, and even each brick used was custom-made in a brick kiln in a nearby village. All 56 rooms and suites have garden and courtyard views. The interior combines Turkish, Arab, and Moorish styles, and the furniture is carefully selected from handmade products from various countries in the Middle East. The Egyptian cotton bedding used in the room is embroidered by the local company "Threads of Hope", which provides embroidery training and job opportunities for women in the region. We started a packed tour in Luxor with our first stop at Valley of the Kings, The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Amazing to see the detail of the drawings on the walls, it looks a couple of years old, amazing that they've preserved it so well over the years. Tour guides tell the story beforehand because they are not to talk and explain inside the temples, it helps that you know the story when you go in and see the story on the wall. Hasteput was scorching hot we were in and out under 30 minutes. My journey to Egypt last year is my most successful accomplishment thus far. Not only was it a dream come true as my first trip to Africa, but it was also a major healing moment, as it provided some closure for a very traumatic chapter of my life. It was a very powerful, soul-cleansing, and healing experience. Ever since my twin brother passed, I felt the desire to do something special with his ashes in honor of his life. So last year for our birthday, I took some of his remains to Egypt with me and spread them around the Valley of the Kings, so he can rest amongst the ancient Kings and Pharaohs, because in my mind that's where he belonged. My brother's death never made sense to me. It left a void in my life and I always questioned the purpose of it all. Okay so Valley of the Kings was BONKERS. It's a series of tombs carved into a mountain range and all decorated with beautiful hieroglyphics and art. Many of the colours are still near-perfectly preserved. It was really mind blowing I've only ever watched documentaries and read books about ancient Egypt, imagining what it would be like to see it in person. I still can't believe I did and let me tell you, it was amazing ( To think I stood in a place that was built thousands of years ago, seeing the craft of ancient Egyptians and their way of life. #newyearadventure #wintergetaway #bucketlistreboot Well this was one off the bucket list….. 6 am hot air balloon ride over the valley of the kings… it was absolutely amazing but a little scary also, we got picked up at 5am taken by minibus to the balloons and then all into the basket and off we go for a 30 minute ride… it cost about £40 but was well worth it. It was amazing to fly over the valley of the kings… what an adventure #wow

It takes around 1 hour from the city to valley of the kings, if I don’t remember wrongly. You can sit to the golf car to the valley of kings or you can walk as well. It is up to you. When you reach there, there are many tombs. However, there are no mummies here because all of the mummies is shipped to the museum. There is a tomb, you have to pay extra to access to the tomb. overall, this place is so beautiful.

Getting There - This is a beautiful place on the Sahara Desert and we got there by using the bus from Luxor Docking area for boat . We were on the bus for 30 min before getting here . Upon arrival we got our tickets and then go on golf cars for about 5 minutes then we had arrived . Attractions - There are many tombs here of previous Kings , according to our tour guide there maybe 60 or more tombs ，but only 12 tombs are open to the public - we had the privilege to view three of those tombs . Hotels - I was on a boat cruise from Aswan to Luxor but then moved to the Iberotel hotel in Luxor and it was wonderful ,their amenities were great and I had a great time there as it was easy access to everything Food & Restaurants - The hotel had three different restaurants to choose from and I enjoyed this so much as I did not have to go far to enjoy some good food . Shopping - When we went to the Valley of Kings , there was a market there where the local people were selling some good things- I bought a bag . #tripblazers #travel

Welcome to the valley of the kings! during our trip we had high expectations for this day, and it was incredible. The Valley of the Kings is the jewel of Egypt. It is incredible to see how this treasures untouched until this days. We traveled there during the pandemic and we were quite lucky to visit the place by ourselves, with bo crowds, so the experience was even better.
