Shenwei Travels Nepal | One Mountain, One City: From the Himalayas to Kathmandu, She Was There.
Before leaving Nepal, I stayed at two hotels under the ACE Group:
one in the mountains of Nagarkot, called Club Himalaya; and one in the heart of Kathmandu, called Hotel Ambassador.
The scenery of the mountain and the city were distinct, but both quietly embraced my emotions—and every little moment I shared with her.
Club Himalaya in the Mountains: The wind blew into my heart, and I found peace.
The wind in Nagarkot was serene. We stayed at Club Himalaya on the mountainside. In the early morning, mist swirled, and the air was filled with the scent of the forest. The hotel offered hot springs, a forest pool, and opportunities to hike up the mountain for panoramic views or cycle to find waterfalls.
However, those were just the sights. What I remember most was the companionship in the mountains.
Those few days, she and her friend were also there. We sat together in the hotel library, watching projected movies, sometimes feeling at ease even without speaking. In the afternoon, sunlight streamed in. We brewed a pot of hot tea; some leaned by the window reading, others rested their eyes on the sofa. At night, we went to the spa together, where steam filled the air, so quiet that it felt as if our heartbeats slowed down.
The mountain breeze was silent, yet it witnessed an unspoken understanding—unsaid, but already cherished memories. ACE Club Himalaya Hotel.
Hotel Ambassador in the City: City Lights, Where Some Things Are Quietly Cherished.
On the last night, we returned to Kathmandu and checked into the Ambassador.
This hotel had been recommended by a friend when I first visited Kathmandu four months ago. She said the rooftop restaurant was good, offering Japanese, Chinese, and Indian cuisine. I kept that in mind then, but I never expected that on this farewell night, I would truly be sitting on that rooftop with her and her mother.
We ordered many dishes. The wind rustled the fabric curtains on the terrace, and the city lights twinkled below. She spoke softly with her mother, and I watched them from the side, occasionally interjecting a joke, occasionally quietly serving food. No one said this meal was important, but everyone knew it was a night worth remembering.
The city's hustle and bustle seemed to have ceased. We sat in the night, with the breeze, the flavors, and the human touch.
One Journey, Two Settings, An Unspoken Affection.
Both Club Himalaya and Hotel Ambassador belong to the ACE Group. One is hidden in the clouds, the other stands in the city, yet both provide a sense of stability, security, and being embraced.
I heard that ACE's founder is a legendary figure who started with a mountain inn and now owns several hotels of various styles. Perhaps because of his experiences, he understands that what travelers truly need is not luxury, but that sense of peace of mind that allows them to relax even when away from home.
From the tranquility of the Himalayas to the nightscape of Kathmandu, she and I, between this mountain and this city, completed moments that belonged only to us.
There were no grand vows or declarations of love, only silent companionship in the library and dining side-by-side on the rooftop.
If you ask me, what was the most profound scenery of this journey?
It was that when she was there, I never felt alone.
