Café Hisohiso is a hidden cafe located a 30-minute walk from Kintetsu Miminari Station. There is an old gate with a rabbit sign. Just past the gate is the cafe. As the name suggests, this cafe is hidden away in nature and serves cute baked goods and desserts. The interior of the cafe is decorated with dried flowers, creating a stylish space. This is a large shrine located in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture. In fact, its history of construction is relatively recent, dating back to the Meiji Period. This is truly one of Nara's lesser-known temples, yet it holds a fascinating legend. In Japanese mythology, there is a celestial being named Kume Sennin who resided in Yamato. He practiced asceticism in the mountains and had the ability to fly. One day, while flying, he saw a woman washing clothes by the river and was momentarily captivated. This caused him to lose his divine powers, and he could no longer fly. From then on, he devoted himself to Buddhism at this location. Kume Sennin is said to be the founder of Kume-dera Temple. The temple enshrines Yakushi Nyorai (the Medicine Buddha) and is the 7th site among the 49 Saigoku Yakushi Sacred Sites. It is believed to have been established during the Asuka period, approximately 1,500 years ago. Another theory suggests that it was founded by Prince Yamashiro, the younger brother of Prince Shōtoku. Compared to other famous ancient temples in Nara, Kume-dera is understated and modest. However, its garden is currently in full bloom with azaleas. Interestingly, I encountered an injured cat here. It’s unclear if it belongs to the temple, but it stayed on the wooden floor in front of the temple, as if inspired by Yakushi Nyorai, quietly meditating in front of the hall. #MarchGoodPlaces2025 I used to think that beautiful scenery, few people and easy access were an impossible triangle of travel destinations, until a friend recommended the Soga River to me. Compared to other attractions in Nara, which either have huge crowds or require taking buses with limited schedules, the Soga River can be reached directly by Kintetsu, and there are fewer tourists, most of whom are locals, so it is easy to find a photo location. As an excellent cherry blossom viewing spot, it is also fully equipped with various facilities - the river bank, tram, children's park, and S-curves are all great tools for taking photos. The entire riverside cherry blossom path is quite long, and you can walk and take pictures for more than two hours. It is recommended to go there from around 3pm to 6pm. If you like riverside cherry blossoms and are in the Kansai area, you can definitely go there without a second thought. To celebrate Koji Mukai's birthday, I visited AEON Mall Kashihara, which houses the 'Tower Records Koji Mukai Support Store' in his hometown. At Tower Records, many fans left messages celebrating him, creating a warm atmosphere throughout the store. Other shops also displayed goods themed around his member color, orange, making it a fulfilling time for fans. It was my first visit to AEON Mall Kashihara, and I was amazed at how spacious it was, offering a full day of enjoyment. Not far from Osaka there is a place that, as they say, has not changed since the Edo period - the same houses as in those days, the same streets, the administration monitors and renovates the houses.
