The largest church in Tasmania
#AprilGoodDestinations2025
Saint David's Cathedral in Hobart, Tasmania is a stone Gothic Revival cathedral designed by the famous Victorian architect George Frederick Bodley. The cathedral was built in the Gothic Revival style, and over the 68 years of construction it has remained true to the original design, including the stained glass windows, arcaded entrance, and impressive bell tower. The cathedral, the first in the province, is listed on the National Heritage List and has hosted many public ceremonies and events.
The arcaded entrance has a large west window with fine beams on the gable, balanced by a supporting tower. Other features include a simple square tower built of Oatlands stone with battlemented parapets and quatrefoil tracery.

Historic buildings revitalized ~ Gallery x 5-star accommodation tour

Henry Jones Art Hotel is a boutique hotel revitalised from a historic building in Hobart, Tasmania, which was once an IXL jam factory. In its heyday, it employed more than a thousand people and has a vibrant history, and the buildings have been kept as authentic as possible. It has now been transformed into a high-end hotel and art center. Perfectly located next to the wharf, it's the perfect choice for a weekend getaway in Hobart, with easy access to the ferry to MONA and many restaurants. This hotel is very unique. There are many artworks to appreciate. It also has its own art gallery, and guests can take part in customized historical art tours.
We had a room with a stunning sea view and the bed was huge and super comfortable. Very quiet, which exceeded our expectations. There were iPads to control the room facilities and a modern stunning bathroom!

Crowne Plaza Hobart, located in the heart of Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, opened in 2020. There is a shopping mall downstairs, and the famous Salamanca Place, Royal Theatre, museums and art galleries are within walking distance, which is very convenient.
There are 235 rooms in total, all of King standard are very comfortable and of very good quality. From the decoration to the atmosphere, there are obvious fashionable furniture, which feels stylish and refined. In addition, the hotel also uses Antipodes skincare, an organic skincare brand from New Zealand, which advocates the use of the cleanest ingredients on earth. The tea bags and coffee welcome gifts are also local brands, a natural and authentic choice.
From the texture of the room card to the design of the room, especially the rooftop restaurant, from the corridor to the seats, it combines a strong modern design style and local art aesthetics. The landmark pier can be seen outside the window, which is so comfortable that it makes people relax and empty their minds. The food is also excellent, especially the seafood dishes.

Salamanca Place is also a gathering place for many food, shopping, music and other leisure and entertainment activities! A famous attraction in Hobart, I believe all tourists can feel it as soon as they come in. It is full of artistic atmosphere. You can see many fine jewelry, clothing, bookstores, etc. here. It is a good place for treasure hunting! The building complex is the "Georgian warehouse" that has been preserved since the 19th century. Walking into Salamanca Square, you can see many cafes, bars, restaurants, etc., as well as a fountain and amusement facilities that children love. There are also Salamanca Arts Centre and Salamanca Market
Hobart Town Hall, built in 1866
#February2025
The grandeur and history of the magnificent Hobart Town Hall dating from 1866, an impressive building with an interior that is more like an art gallery or concert hall than a town hall.
Many special occasions and events have been held here, including balls, wedding receptions, public meetings, and flower festivals. It is also very suitable for concerts because there is a very beautiful organ in the main hall.
It previously gained fame for hosting the famous Strings on Fire Queens candlelight concert.
How I spent 1 day in Hobart- MONA
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I arrived, I was amazed by the bold, unique design of the museum and its intriguing approach to art.
Itinerary & Highlights:
The museum itself is a fascinating blend of old and contemporary art, housed in a striking building that seems to rise from the ground. The collection is vast, with artworks ranging from ancient artifacts to thought-provoking modern installations. Some of the highlights include the *Eternal Return* exhibition, a large-scale installation that is both visually stunning and emotionally powerful, and *Cai Guo-Qiang's* explosive art that immediately grabs your attention.
The MONA Ferry Ride:
One of the best parts of the visit was taking the MONA ferry from Hobart’s waterfront. The ride itself offers beautiful views of the river and the city, adding a unique touch to the journey before even stepping foot inside the museum.
The Museum's Layout:
The interior of MONA is labyrinthine, with multiple levels and rooms that lead you to unexpected discoveries. It’s an art lover’s dream with installations that engage the senses in every direction. You’ll want to take your time, as there’s a lot to see, and each exhibit offers something different and thought-provoking. Don’t miss the Pharos, a rooftop bar with a fantastic view, ideal for a break to take in the scenery and reflect on the art.
Tips for Visiting:
Download the MONA App: (The O)The museum uses this app that provides information about each artwork and exhibit. It’s a great guide and enhances your experience by offering deeper insights into the pieces you're viewing.
Plan for at least 3-4 hours:There is so much to explore, so don’t rush. It’s definitely worth taking your time to appreciate the variety of art on display.
Wear comfortable shoes: The museum’s layout is quite expansive, and there’s a lot of walking involved.
Good Experience & Atmosphere:
What stands out about MONA is its atmosphere. It’s not just about viewing art, it’s about experiencing it. The museum encourages personal interpretation and fosters an open, immersive environment. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall. It’s not just a museum, but a place where art comes to life in unexpected ways. Whether you're an art aficionado or just curious, there’s something at MONA for everyone. Highly recommended!

The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery is two stories high and is quite spacious inside because the old and new wings are connected together. The selection of exhibits is also very rich, and it is a good place to spend a few hours or so. The collection includes animals, paintings, ceramic tableware, designer wooden furniture and artist exhibitions.
Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. There are 2 stories and several exhibits, most of which are very informative. There is also a children's space with many interesting books and exhibits. You can also visit the coffee shop and souvenir shop. The courtyard is large and you can enjoy sunshine.
Father of Tasmania - Historical Figures Square
#February2025
A fountain and statue outside Salamanca in Hobart commemorate Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, who discovered Tasmania on November 24, 1642. Here they discovered and landed on "Van Diemens Land", which the Aboriginals called lutruwita, but was later changed to Tasmania. A small circular square with a rough-hewn stone fixed to the Southern Cross, a fountain on one side, three bronze ships and a statue of Abel Tasman on the other.
It’s right next to Salamanca Market, so there’s no excuse not to check it out!
More than just a pier-Kings Pier Marina
#February Good Places 2025
Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, is a port city and the art capital of the southern hemisphere. What about the combination of the two? The Kings Pier Marina within Victoria Dock is a very Wow, amazing marina, in addition to lots of restaurants and boats. The pier has a set of beautiful sculptural bronze statues to celebrate the arrival of travelers. There are shapes of marine life and ancient historical figures.
Hobart Locals’ Sunday Farmers Market
#February Good Places 2025
Farm Gate Market is just Sunday Market, one street across. The scale is smaller and mainly sells local produce, all very fresh. There are dairy products, fruits and vegetables, a small amount of cured meat products, and baked bread and cookies. There is also an area selling breakfast in the middle, and the food is good. Yogurt and cheese are especially good!
He also has snack stalls serving Asian and Australian cuisine, which adds a bit of variety to the experience. It’s a cozy market, perfect for wandering around the city. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Hobart on Sunday!
Tasmania is all about laid-back attitude and slow pace
#2月好地方2025
Its beauty is not just the blue sky, soft white clouds, fresh air, and clear blue coast, the most beautiful thing is the slow and leisurely life.
The capital city of Hobart has a small population. The entire city center is centered around the waterfront wharf area, which is the main tourist destination. There are restaurants serving delicious and authentic seafood, small stalls, and tour boats.
The city center is not large and most attractions can be reached on foot, including Liverpool Street shopping district, St David Cathedral, Salamamca Place, Tasmania Museum n Art Gallery, etc. There are different murals and sculptures throughout the city, thanks to the University of Tasmania encouraging students to create designs. Diversified art is distributed in different places in the city. Some designs are very unique, making the eyes travel with every step.

The unique museum building itself is an exact replica of an original hut built in Antarctica, giving a realistic understanding of the harsh conditions of the cold and blizzards that early explorers faced. Tells the maritime history of Hobart, including stories of the Aboriginal people, British colonial period, World War period and post-war period. Of course, they also provide material on the 1975 Tasman Bridge disaster and the 1973 Blythe Star incident. The museum does not have many collections, mainly small ship models and replicas of equipment. In addition, there are also small exhibition rooms displaying ocean-related art creations. In general, the collection is relatively small, but the staff is quite friendly and you can also gain relevant knowledge through the brief introduction.

Trip to Hobart, Australia 🇦🇺
It was a weekend getaway to Hobart (Tasmania), Australia with my partner. We started our Hobart adventure with a visit to the iconic Salamanca Market, open every Saturday. The vibrant atmosphere, local artisans, and street performers made it perfect for photos 📸 The stalls filled with handmade crafts, fresh produce 🍎 and unique souvenirs 🎁 were a treat to explore. We recommend going early to beat the crowds and get the best light for photos.
📍Salamanca Place, Hobart TAS 7000
After the market, we explored the Battery Point area, a picturesque historic district. Wandering through the quaint streets felt like stepping back in time. Arthur Circus Park, with its charming cottages, is a must-visit for photography enthusiasts.
📍Battery Point, Hobart TAS 7004
As the day turned golden, we headed to the Waterfront Esplanade. Watching the sunset over the Derwent River was magical. The reflections of boats 🛥️ in the water created stunning photo opportunities. We dined at one of the seafood 🦞 restaurants nearby to end the day perfectly.
📍Hobart Waterfront, Franklin Wharf, Hobart TAS 7000
We also visited to Mount Wellington (Kunanyi) 🏔️ The summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of Hobart, the River Derwent, and beyond. We recommend going early in the morning when the light is soft and the skies are clearer for photography 📸 P/S: Bring a jacket🧥 as it can get quite chilly up there!
📍Pinnacle Road, Wellington Park TAS 7054
We also explored Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, and we loved photographing the Japanese Garden and the lily pond. It’s such a peaceful spot to unwind and take stunning nature shots.
📍 Lower Domain Rd, Queens Domain TAS 7000
We ended our trip with a visit to MONA (Museum of Old and New Art). It’s unlike any museum we’ve ever been to. The unique architecture and thought-provoking exhibits make it a top spot for both art lovers and Instagram-worthy photos 📸 Plan to take the ferry for an extra scenic touch.
📍655 Main Rd, Berriedale TAS 7011
🌦️Hobart’s weather can change quickly, so dress in layers and check forecasts.
