Journey to Cleethorpes’ Abandoned WWII Forts
#postandearn #abandonedplaces #coastalhistory #dronephotography #cleethorpesbeach #cleethorpes #lincolnshire
Rising like ghostly giants from the Humber Estuary, Bull Sands Fort and Haile Sands Fort are two of England’s most atmospheric coastal relics. Built during World War I to guard vital shipping lanes, these off-limits forts can be admired for free from Cleethorpes Beach—no boat needed!
📸 Why Photographers & Adventurers Love Them:
⚓ Bull Sands Fort - 18 meters of rusted drama.
🌀 Haile Sands Fort - its circular design contrasts hauntingly with the wild North Sea.
🌊 Adventure Essentials:
🌟 Drone it: Soar above their decayed grandeur (check local regulations).
🌟Paddle nearby: Glide around the forts on calm days—keep a safe distance (tides can be treacherous!).
🌟Local pairing: Refuel with award-winning fish and chips at Steels Cornerhouse, just a 5-minute walk from the beach.
⚠️ Safety First:
Admire from shore—do not attempt to climb. Respect seabirds nesting in the rusted nooks!
🌅 Free, eerie, and utterly unforgettable. Add these wartime wonders to your coastal bucket list!

Salt, Sand, and Sky: Escape to Cleethorpes’ Wild Edge
#cleethorpes #lincolnshire #beach #nature #wilderness #uk
Walk past Cleethorpes Pier, beach on your left, land on your right. Crowds disappear. Ahead: soft waves of sand, grass bending in wind.
Beyond lie tidal flats. Salt marshes shine like mirrors. Mudflats stretch empty, marked by bird tracks.
This is wild Cleethorpes. No arcades. No ice cream vans. Just pure untamed nature. Birds sing high above. The Humber’s tide rolls in, out, in. Rare land. Protected land.
Come when the sea retreats. Walk the mudflats. Let your boots sink. Let your eyes wander.

Step onto the brass stripe that splits the world—east from west—tucked just a stone’s throw from the Signal Box Inn, the planet’s smallest pub.
Here, the Greenwich Meridian cuts through salt-tinged air with seaside practicality. A globe and a signpost mark the spot, pointing to distant cities. No crowds, no fanfare: just a quiet nod to geography, wedged between railway tracks and the hum of the North Sea.
Snap a photo, one foot in each hemisphere, then wander to the tiny pub nearby for a pint-sized celebration.
📍 Address: King’s Road, Cleethorpes, DN35 0AG (near the Signal Box Inn, marked by the signpost).

Catch The Sunshine on Cleethorpes’ Charming Beachfront
#postandearn #cleethorpes #seaside #lincolnshire #beach #uk
Cleethorpes’ seafront basks in daylight calm. Motorbikes stand polished, chrome gleaming. Crazy golf courses stand with their windmills, flags fluttering in the breeze. Gardens bloom—roses, lavender, hedges trimmed sharp—leading to Ross Castle’s sturdy tower, its steps worn smooth by decades of climbs.
The funfair waits. A big wheel towers over striped ticket booths. A helter-skelter spirals skyward, its slide smooth and curling. Salt air tastes sweet with sugar from nearby stalls. No voices, no rush—just the steady breath of the North Sea and the quiet pride of a place built to last.

Charming Day at Cleethorpes Pier 🎡🌊
Spent a delightful day at Cleethorpes Pier, a historic landmark brimming with charm and nostalgia. Walking along the pier, I enjoyed panoramic views of the coastline and the gentle sound of waves beneath me. The pier's traditional British seaside atmosphere was captivating.
I indulged in classic fish and chips from a charming café, savoring the fresh sea air while enjoying my meal. The pier featured fun amusement arcades and quaint shops, perfect for picking up souvenirs and enjoying a bit of nostalgia.
As the sun began to set, the pier took on a magical glow, with lights reflecting on the water and creating a serene, picturesque scene. Cleethorpes Pier is a perfect spot for relaxation and fun, embodying the quintessential seaside experience. 🐟🍟🌅

Trip to cleethorpes
Visited for 6 nights and were up to see family. Visited the famous fish and chips shop and had a wonderful dinner. Beach was incredible, sooo big. Did nearly get caught out but the tide though, so be very careful when swimming. Trains here were very efficient, only one change in sheffield and was very easy. Trip gave me 2% off aswell which might not sound like much but bought me an ice cream

Grimsby to Cleethorpes: Seaside Train Commute!
#mydailycommute #mycommute #grimsby #cleethorpes #lincolnshire #uktrains #seaside
My first commute: working in my hometown Grimsby, and living seaside in Cleethorpes. Beach views included. 🌊
✨ Why This Ride?
• Starting in Grimsby: town bustle fades as the train pulls away. 🚊
• Mid-journey joy: pass the colourful fishing heritage mural at Grimsby Docks — a joyful flash of maritime history. 🎨
• Arriving in Cleethorpes: step off onto golden sands, and see the wide azure glowing skies. 🌞
• 9-minute escape: No stress, no traffic, no parking fees—just 4km of coastal magic. ✨
📍 The Route
Grimsby Town → Cleethorpes Station
4km | 7–9 mins
🚂 Train Essentials
• Operators: Transpennine Express / East Midlands Railway
• Frequency: 12x daily (7:43 AM → 6:44 PM)
• Price: £3-4 single
• Seat hack: West-facing window for sunset over the Humber ☀️
🌅 Don’t Miss
• Cleethorpes Promenade: Best seaview lookout spot
• Pier stroll: Fish & chips in hand, just seconds from the station 🐟🍟
This commute isn't a chore—it's 9 minutes of sea-scented serenity.
🎒 Local Wisdom
• When buying tickets at the counter, always ask for "Meggies" never "Cleethorpes".
• Why? It’s an old slang term whose origins are lost but we keep proudly alive.
Stretch out. Breathe deep. This is commuting, seaside-style. 🌊🚂
