All Trip Moments about Boadilla del Monte
Autumn stroll through the red bricks and greenery, a fun and enjoyable trip!
Central Spain Tour ~ Madrid (Region)
Attributed to Ventura Rodríguez, it should be understood as part of the monumental complex of the Palace of the Infante Don Luis, which he facilitated access from Madrid via the Arroyo Nacedero. Currently, it continues to support access to the historic center of Boadilla and remains semi-hidden unless you follow the pedestrian path between the parking lot next to the palace and Nacedero Park. It's well-preserved and worth a few minutes' time.

A One-of-a-Kind Specimen in the World
Central Spain Tour ~ Madrid (Region)
Though small in size, its history is incredibly fascinating. Meticulously restored, it stands as a unique example in Spain and one of the few preserved in Europe, showcasing the 18th-century aristocracy's passion for natural sciences and general knowledge. Kings, their relatives, and the wealthy of the time kept various exotic animals, using them for display, gifting, and even allowing them to be touched when left behind. While such structures once existed across Europe, they have largely disappeared, replaced by zoos.

Check in the magnificent neoclassical fountain 🪨
Spain Central Tour - Madrid (Greater Region)
Come to Madrid Bo Adilla del Monte to see this super dominant neoclassical fountain for yourself! ⛲️ It is located right in front of Prince Don Louis Palace, and the garden next to it forms the palace complex, beautiful! 😮
The fountain itself was designed by historic architect Ventura Rodriguez, and the special feature is that it turned out to be actually the front of an irrigation tank to help supply water to the palace gardens and orchards – the design is very useful and handsome!
After a full restoration, the fountain blends perfectly with the walking plaza in front of the palace’s main entrance. Walking over to take pictures is really great, the main facade of the palace plus the magnificent fountain, is simply a photo heaven! 📸

Royal Garden Stroll Recommendation
Central Spain Tour ~ Madrid (Region)
This is a great spot for a leisurely walk, with wide avenues shaded by lush trees, low hedge mazes, and mountain views. There are plenty of benches, ornamental plants, and even edible plants to admire. Stairs lead to another section of the garden, though the access is currently closed. In the afternoon, they set up some platforms where I believe you can have dinner or at least enjoy a drink.

Dream palace scenery under sunny sky📸
Central Spain Tour ~ Madrid (Region)
The current palace is a remodel of the Dos Torres Palace, which was built in stages by the city's lords starting in the 17th century. In 1761, Infante Don Luis de Borbón purchased the palace. He commissioned architect Ventura Rodríguez to oversee its renovation. Recently restored, the palace occupies a rectangular space formed by a series of landscaped terraces; the complex also includes the Ventura Rodríguez Fountain, a pond, and a waterwheel.

Central Spain Tour ~ Madrid (Region)
Boadilla del Monte is located in the southeastern part of Madrid, near cities such as Majadahonda, Villaviciosa de Odón, Alcorcón, Pozuelo de Alarcón, and Brunete.
There are various theories about the origin of Boadilla. One suggests it was built by the Arabs, as the remains of a mosque were discovered nearby. Its name might derive from the Arabic term 'Boadil-la.' After 1576, it became royal property and was a renowned hunting reserve. It is believed that around 1668, the town developed around the Church of San Cristóbal, where remnants of an Arab wall can still be found. In 1670, the Barefoot Carmelite Monastery was established. During the 18th century, the town belonged to Isabel María Queipo de Llano Dóriga y Valdés, and was later purchased by Prince Luis de Borbón. In 1998, the Boadilla City Council acquired the Palace of Don Luis, which had been declared a National Monument in 1974.
