🇧🇪 Belgium Recap: A Journey Through Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, and Bruges
My Belgium trip was nothing short of amazing! From the bustling streets of Brussels to the quaint charm of Bruges, I spent a few unforgettable days exploring this beautiful country. Here’s a recap of my journey through Belgium’s most iconic cities:
Brussels: The Heart of Belgium
I kicked off my Belgium trip in Brussels, where I took in all the highlights, from the iconic Grand Place to the impressive Atomium. Strolling through the city’s vibrant streets, I admired its beautiful mix of historic architectureand modern vibes. Of course, no visit to Brussels is complete without enjoying waffles and Belgian fries, and I didn’t miss the chance to try both! For a fun twist, I also stopped by the famous Delirium Café, where the selection of beers was mind-blowing.
Antwerp: A Spontaneous Escape
From Brussels, I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Antwerp. The bus ride was only about 7 EUR, making it an affordable and easy choice. In Antwerp, I visited the Grote Markt, admired the stunning Cathedral of Our Lady, and wandered the beautiful streets. One of the best culinary experiences I had here was at Frites Atelier, where I indulged in some of the best fries I’ve ever had—crispy, flavorful, and simply amazing.
Ghent: A Blend of History and Charm
After a quick stop in Antwerp, I headed to Ghent. The city is a perfect blend of history and modernity, with its stunning medieval architecture and hip atmosphere. The Gravensteen Castle was a highlight, offering stunning views of the city. After touring the sights, I explored the Korenmarkt area and relaxed by the Leie River, soaking in the cozy vibes.
Bruges: My Favorite Stop in Belgium
My final stop was Bruges, and it was easily my favorite. This picturesque town feels like it’s straight out of a fairytale. I wandered through cobblestone streets, crossed charming canals, and visited the Belfry of Bruges, which offers incredible views of the city. The town’s medieval architecture, coupled with the colorful autumn leaves, made for a magical experience. Bruges really stole my heart with its charming atmosphere and historical beauty.
Food, Fun, and Spontaneity
Throughout my trip, I had an amazing mix of food experiences—waffles, frites, and moules-frites were just some of the highlights. I even tried the famous Xing Fu Tang bubble tea in Brussels for a little taste of Asia! And I loved how spontaneous the trip was—especially when I decided to head to Amsterdam from Antwerp for a quick day trip. It’s so easy to hop between cities in Belgium, and I made the most of it!
Overall
Belgium is a beautiful country, rich in history, culture, and delicious food. Each city had its own unique charm, but Bruges will always be my favorite. Whether you’re a history buff, a food lover, or just looking to explore charming streets and canals, Belgium has something for everyone. If you haven’t visited yet, I highly recommend adding it to your travel list!
