Spanish Central Plateau Hiking ~ La Rioja
Arnedo is 48 kilometers from Logroño. Although the town boasts a rich history, its real development began in the early 20th century thanks to its local shoemaking industry. The importance of shoemaking in the town is fully reflected in the Shoe Museum, where you can see the tools and instruments used in traditional shoemaking.
However, the city's rich history has also left a fascinating artistic heritage. Among its most outstanding buildings are the medieval castle; the residence/palace of the Archbishop of Algés, built in 1658; the modernist palace of the Baroness of Benasque; and the Monastery of Vico, where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to a Moorish leader in 1045.
