Attractions - The broken bridge is main thing we came to see was a boat tour we’d like to do but we didn’t have time. the food around the town was pretty good we went to a nice Japanese restaurant. Great Wall trip to Dandong - great with kids

Getting There - An easy 3 hours drive from Shenyang. Only in Dandong city the traffic is a bit crazy. About 25 minutes going to the Great Wall from the city center. Attractions - Entrance fee is about 60 RMB. in case you want to book a guide it’s an additional 300. I think it’s not needed. I recommend getting the bus ticket. While it is a round trip the last 2.5km is a long walk back around the mountain. Hotels - The Wanda Realm was a good choice in the buzzing city center. There is not much English all around the city - just keep in mind! Food & Restaurants - North Korean BBQ is the choice in Dandong. you’ll find plenty of good places all around the city. choose one nearby the river for an after dinner stroll to Yalu Broken Bridge! We took the high speed train from Shenyang to Dandong for a weekend trip. What a nice surprise.. from the broken bridge you can have a look over to North Korea 🇰🇵. We also had a river cruise along the boarder. The highlight of Dandong was two things 1. Korean BBQ 2. Great Wall, where you are just a stone throw away from North Korea.

You can walk to the end of what's left and gaze across to Sinujiu in the Hermit Kingdom. A river cruise is another way to get a good view of the Korean side. Wanda Realm Dandong is worth recommending.

The hotel is very nice, with good and complete facilities. The surrounding area is well equipped. Wanda Plaza, Tianci Future City, and RT-Mart are downstairs. It is very convenient to eat and shop. The hotel is in a great location, just across the road from the Yalu River. The lobby gives me a low-key and elegant feeling. The front desk staff greeted me warmly and kindly. The mattress in the room is very comfortable. The staff are very professional and even sent me a guide. They are very skilled in handling inquiries, especially the front desk service is very considerate. The front desk manager and Yanyan are very enthusiastic. The hotel is very clean and the service staff in the lobby on the first floor have a very good attitude. I am very happy to stay at this hotel in Dandong. The bedding is also very clean. They called me to communicate my needs before check-in and tried their best to meet them after check-in. I am very grateful for the enthusiastic help of the service staff!

1. Prices are very cheap (at least compared to Beijing), not as people say online. North Korean food is filling, and a meal costs no more than 40. Highly recommend President Gao's Soup and Jeonju Bibimbap. Most goods are normally priced, and sugar-coated haws are especially cheap. Strawberries are expensive, and you may be ripped off. 2. The temperature is low, the wind is strong, and it's very cold. Your lips may get chapped. Wear a down jacket, and long johns are recommended. 3. The city is small, and you can walk to many places. Moon Island and Hushan Great Wall are not worth visiting. I think the core is the Yalu River Bridge and the Memorial Hall of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. 4. If someone asks you to pay 198 to travel around Dandong, go to Hushan Great Wall, and says they can take you to North Korea, don't go. It's a scam. These are unlicensed, unregulated private guides. 5. The Dandong cruise is worth taking! You can see the daily work of local North Korean workers up close and greet them. The cruise departs at around 9:30, 11:00, 1:30, and 3:00. Cruise 1 tours the industrial area, and Cruise 2 tours the residential area. Tickets are 60, and business hours are 9:00–16:00. 6. Seat recommendations: The first four photos in the notes were taken on the Yalu River Broken Bridge, and the last four were taken on the cruise and at the cruise terminal. The last photo was taken at the Memorial Hall of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, where you can see Sinuiju, North Korea. Highly recommended. Finally, bring your own binoculars.
